We have taken a 14th-century spice mix, used to make Ypocras - a spiced red wine - and combined it with dark chocolate to create a fantastic and exotic spiced chocolate bar. The sense and depth of the flavours develop on the tongue, leaving a sensation of warmth and floral spice.

The name Ypocras, also written as Hypocras, refers to Hippocrates, who is credited with inventing a sieve used for filtering spices from drinks. This Ypocras recipe originates from the 14th-century collection of recipes, The Forme of Cury, written in the 1390s. Chaucer mentions Ypocras in both the Knight's Tale and the Merchant's Tale: “He drynketh ypocras, clarree, and vernage, Of spices hoote, t'encreessen his corage;” (Canterbury Tales).

Ingredients: Chocolate (Cocoa Mass 43.0%; Sugar 43.0%; Cocoa Butter 13.0%; Emulsifier: SOYA Lecithin, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Ginger, Long Pepper, Cloves, Grains of Paradise, Galingale, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Marjoram. (Chocolate min 33.6% Cocoa Solids). May contain traces of MILK.
