Malotira or Mountain Tea
Malotira or Mountain Tea (Sideritis syriaca)
The Sideritis plant, used to produce Malotira, is native to the eastern Mediterranean and grows at altitudes from 1,000m up to 2,500m. Cretan shepherds frequently made this tea in the high mountains, which gives it its popular name, ‘Mountain Tea’.
Tasting Notes:
A light, herbaceous and citrus tea. Hints of wild oregano and lemon thyme, together with delicate aromas of lemon and honey. Gentle hints of peat smoke and spice with zesty citrus notes on the palate.
