Milk chocolate flavoured with a 17th century Spanish spice mix
(Chilli, Orange, Cinnamon, Cloves, anise & Vanilla)
This spiced chocolate bar is based on Antonio de Ledesma’s 1685 medicinal recipe for hot chocolate. It is one of the earliest European recipes, and at the time was only used as a drink. The chilli and vanilla are Aztec ingredients combined with the European flavours of orange and other spices.
Chocolate up until the 1840s was almost always used as a hot chocolate or as flavouring. For this bar we have taken the flavours of early Spanish hot chocolate and created a spiced milk chocolate bar.
Ingredients: Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Whole MILK Powder, Emulsifier: SOYA Lecithin, Natural Vanilla), Orange Peel, Cinnamon, Cloves, Anise Seed, Cayenne Pepper. (Chocolate min 33.6% Cocoa Solids)
